Happy Solstice! Our lovely Winter Seasonal will be arriving on shelves next week bringing life and color to your life one bottle at a time. We chose to go with our flavor of Hibiscus Cardamom Ginger yet again because, well, that Sh!@ is really good. Personally, it is one of my favorites and I wait for it all year, as do many of you. The warmth of the ginger and cardamom with the amazing brightness of the hibiscus lights me up. I need it since no matter how well things are going and happy I may be, winter just leaves a little ball of rage just under the surface. I mean, c’mon. Scraping windshields, having your face hurt in the outside, freezing nostril hairs….not my favorite.
This lovely concoction calms the beast within, stimulates warmth in my extremities as well as livens up my bourbon drink while I stare in to the flames of a toasty fire contemplating the doom which many of us feel in an overwhelming tide of helplessness and despair……I mean…it’s a great gift and is a welcome talking point and holiday beverage! You can bring it to any gathering this year and talk about what kombucha is and how it’s changed your life while avoiding family conflicts and deep seeded emotional trauma that should probably be addressed.
In all seriousness folks, I get it. Some of us are feeling overwhelmed with the upheaval of 2016. There has been a lot of craziness happening and turmoil to process. We have a great uneasiness looking forward into the coming year. Take time to love yourself. Take time to be with people you really love. Also, take time to be kind, to everyone. Be patient, polite. Look around you and realize that we are all in this together. There is so much more outside of ourselves. Be present. Hug longer. Hold space for each other.
The Winter Solstice is the longest and darkest day of the year, and every year since time began, the cycles continue and the days will get brighter again. We cannot have dark without light. We cannot have love without hate. We cannot find happiness, joy, exuberance if we do not know despair, anger, or malaise. Balance. Yin, Yang and all that.
So tonight I’m going to the big Pagan Madison Solstice Bon Fire. Imma gonna take all the stuff I don’t need in my head and my heart and burn it. I will also cast goals and wishes into the fire for the future. Then I will toast to the Earth and thank her for all of the fortune and love in my life with some tasty Kombucha Grog.
Winter has truly begun. Stay warm, and may your fire burn bright.
