Summer Shandies with Kombucha!

Summer time is my favorite time for Shandies. NessAlla was fortunate enough to be featured in the Cap Times article non-traditional shandies.

For about 3 years or more, I can’t remember when I started, I have been drinking kombucha with beer. 1/2 & 1/2. They are pretty much my two favorite beverages and so putting them together was a fun experiment that I have never ended. I have a tendency to enjoy the flavors of beers with a high alcohol content. MAN! WHY do they have the best taste? I can only drink like 2 or maybe 3 before I’m too toasted to form coherent intelligent sentences. That is, I think I can normally form coherent-ish sentences….hmmm

Any who,  I decided to add kombucha to these robust delicious brews and….oh man. That was it! For me, I found that when I did kombucha 1/2 & 1/2 with my beers I could drink more and still remain pretty cognizant. Plus it was delicious. I’m a hop head…yeah, yeah, I know some of you are over it, but I’m not. I do IPA’s, APA’s, and just about anything with a hop dominant with my booch. They go with just about any flavor. I have also found that the Oolong will go with just about ANY beer. In my extensive studies I have also found that a nice burly stout or porter goes really well with our Raspberry kombucha. I hear that it also goes very nicely with a good belgian.  I wouldn’t know, I haven’t met a Belgian that I love yet. The kombucha tends to mellow out the beer flavor while enhancing different qualities. In fact, if you take your average ……um, light beer and put kombucha in it, you will find the taste quite a bit more refreshing and tasty. But who wants to make light beer lighter? Oh wait….have you seen this…PBRlight

Honestly, I don’t understand this. What is the point? Drink fizzy water…

In fact, right now I am drinking our Farmers market flavor Wild Chamomile and Red Clover with Potosi’s Tangerine IPA……dude. So good. Potosi is rockin it out with it’s Wisconsin history, community efforts and kick ass beer. They also donate a booch load to charity.  (ya like how I did that?)

Earlier I was drinking Ale Asylums Hopalicious (classic local IPA) with the Farmers Market Mulberry……also f*#&in dalish.

Ooooh, oooooh! Guess what? We are also ON TAP at a few places around town. Sometimes the Alchemy has it on tap and they always have it in the bottle so you can still totally get a Shandy.

The Side Door Bar and Grille always has it on tap, and the Hop Garden in Paoli has it as well. They have been flying through our Juniper Hop flavor. Hop heads, you need to have that one with a hoppy beer and have yourself a hopgasm. Yep. HOPGASM!! Ya know, it’s like when you have a……never mind.
